Matchstick Group is a forward thinking, hardworking talent agency with a difference, they are reimagining the traditional role of management and putting the wellbeing of their staff and clients as their number one priority, in other words they put people before profit.
They needed a bright new website to convey their company ethos and to show their talented individuals in an unconventional, bold, yet stylish way.
The Matchstick brand uses a very bold yellow, black and white colour palette and the logo was developed to use a chunky black font on a stark contrasting yellow background. From the very start we worked closely with Max Parker the founder of Matchstick Group to create a brand that was bold and unconventional, quirky and playful using large areas of simple colour alongside big chunky fonts with minimal imagery and overlapping blocks.
We animated the logo on the welcome screen and kept the style really clean and bold for ultimate impact, lower down the home page we added a 3 column alternate sliding image gallery of their talented people to create a constantly changing effect. The structure of the other pages continues to use offset blocks which gives added depth to the site.
The individual talent pages use a bright pink or bright blue colour palette to give a point of difference to the largely yellow and black site. We also added a “fun or boring” theme switcher which allows the entire website to use a black and white theme or the normal colour theme and finally added a Pac Man game! There are other hidden cherry’s throughout the site too, adding to the users enjoyment and intrigue of the site.
We went on to also create animated email footers and social graphics in support of the site and the overall brand too.
Since the launch of the company and the new site the feedback has been incredible and Matchstick has been going from strength to strength growing and adding new clients all the time. They set out to create ripples in their sector and they are certainly doing that!
