Founded in 1860, The Ice Co is Europe’s leading ice manufacturer and the UK’s No.1 ice brand, with bestselling products such as Super Cubes, Polar Cube and Party Ice.
Their old website needed a refresh with brighter colours and new photography. A rejig of the sitemap and website structure was required too in order to make the site more user friendly and product focused.
The Ice Co provided us with a new colour palette and a new direction for the style of photography for their recipes section which was a great starting point for us to design the page layouts. Big, clear, colourful sections with lots of call to action and strong impacting photography with links through to other areas of the site were our main focus and helped to lay the foundations for the new build.
We included a search and filtering tool for the recipes to help with navigation along with video content, recipe ratings, PDF download and a save-for-later function all featuring on the individual recipes pages. We added little scrollable ice cubes dotted about the product pages, and a ticker tape for the latest news and featured pages to appear and link through to. We also added a few animations here and there to lift some of the site sections and add a little movement to encourage engagement.
We suggested a members area where users could log in to and receive exclusive content, news updates, events, and recipes would be a great idea for future marketing and also help with customer engagement. We developed this alongside the main website and called it ‘Cool Club’.
Once the new website was made live we also started a serach engine optimisation campaign and we’ve been building on this for the last few months, since launch the traffic numbers have more than doubled compared to the old site.
The feedback from the Ice Co on the new website and SEO has been fantastic.
