York Museums Trust is an independent charitable trust set up to manage the museums and gallery service previously run by City of York Council.
They needed a stand-alone brand identity to represent both the Supporters and Patrons of the charity that could be used across banners, posters, leaflets and membership cards for the Museum.
By using the letters S and P for ‘Supporters and Patrons’ we created a series of monogram style logos from simple shapes to form 2 iconic logos. These would be the bases of brand and the shapes were then multiplied and used to create a texture pattern of the logos in bright colours to give an impacting look. These shapes also formed the basis for the image blocks used on the posters and booklets.
The Patrons branding needed to look sophisticated so the colour palette for this was black, white and gold, for the supporters we chose a bright colour palette that achieved maximum impact.
Once the initial brand was created, we developed it to various marketing tools from brochures with metallic foil finishing to exhibition stands and posters. We also created packs for new members which included brochures detailing the different rewards and items such as gold patron lapel badges and stickers or patrons and supporters to proudly wear, as well as some great colourful membership cards which gave discounts to exhibitions and items from the Museum shop.
Various events were held to encourage people to join as patrons or supporters and the new branding went down very well.
York Museums Trust were delighted with the branding work we did which gave a big uplift in support for the charity.
Since this initial project we went on to create more marketing for the York Museums Trust Gardens team.
